Spanish Classes


Please Note: Class and Supply Fees listed cover the full year. All classes meet Mondays and Wednesdays. Please see our dates & schedules.


Secure Forum: All MHS classes have a secure interactive forum to communicate with tutors, parents and classmates. Tutors will use this platform to communicate about classwork and assignments.

Parents and students access the forum by signing into the website using the username(s) & password(s) created on the membership form and clicking on "forum".


Assignments: Homework/extension work/project homework assigned on our interactive course forums.



Spanish: 1st – 4th 

At this level the class objective is to build and/or reinforce the grammatical and phonetic language foundations, providing the student with the necessary skill to communicate in Spanish. Through fun and interactive activities like, songs, games, craft and more, combined with the curriculum and worksheets, the student will be able to learn, recognize, read and write the language in the most natural way possible. We will cover the alphabet and essential vocabulary topics such as colors and numbers, family members, the weather, dates, parts of the body and more. 

Sucess in learning a new language is accomplished through exposure and practice. For more exposure to the language and to reinforce the classroom learning, tasks may be assigned for homework. At the end of the year, the student will have a basic-to-intermediate comprehension and communication level. Students will prepare and present a Spanish speech as a final project.

**Students will be provided with a spanish binder and workbook for the year to organize their classwork and complete their homework.**

We will cover essential vocabulary topics and complement knowledge with history of the Spanish language.

Spanish Level 2: 5th – 8th 

 At this level the student should have an intermediate grammatical foundation and a good comprehension of the Spanish language. The class objective is reinforcing these foundations and improving the writing and oral skills necessary to increase the communication and comprehension at the maximum level possible. Throughout the year, the student will make oral presentations and have conversations with their partners in Spanish. We will use writing newspaper and magazine articles in Spanish to increase reading skill. We will also be learning more about different Spanish speaking cultures and countries. Students will prepare and present a Spanish speech as a final project.
