Friday Clubs for 2019-2020

MHS clubs are led by parents or tutors and are FREE for members with the exception of their minimal supply fees for the year. Please log in and visit our Class Registration page to sign up for the clubs.

Please Note: ALL students participating in clubs will need their parents to be with them. The only exception to this is National Ocean Science Bowl Club.

Secure Forum: All MHS clubs have a secure interactive forum to communicate with club leaders, parents and classmates. Club leaders will use this platform to communicate about the club.

Parents and students access the forum by signing into the website using the username(s) & password(s) created on the membership form and clicking on "forum".

Fitness Fun: 9:30 – 10:20 AM

It’s time to get active and have some fun with your friends. In this club, kids will learn various fitness and gross motor skills such as jumping rope, dribbling, throwing and catching as well as the hand eye coordination involved in racquet, frisbee and ball games. They will learn how to play team games where lessons of good sportsmanship, cooperation, and strategy will come into play. And most of all they will get their daily exercise while having fun!

  • Supply fee: $10 per child

  • To help cover the purchase and replacement of needed items such as exercise mats, balls, jump ropes, frisbees, racquets, wristbands, cones, bases, soccer goals.

Builders and Engineers: 10:30 – 11:20 AM

This club is great for kids who love to create structures with everything in the house they can find. Let them exercise their growing talent along with their friends! They will have the opportunity to design and build with various materials such as recycled materials, Knex, wooden blocks, and Legos. Through exploration and working together, kids will learn many new building and engineering skills to apply to their at home creations.

  • Supply Fee: $15 per child

  • To help cover the purchase of building materials such as craft sticks, Knex, blocks, glue, tape, rubber bands, straws, pipe cleaners, and paper.

Storybook Enrichment: 12:15 – 1:05 PM

If your child loves books, this club is for them! Together with their friends, kids will not only hear various stories but will have the opportunity to bring those stories to life with hands on projects and activities. Much like the highly praised Five in a Row curriculum, this club will lead kids through story related activities that allow them to practice their art, science, geography, and drama skills. Applied in a group setting, this club makes reading stories even more fun!

  • Supply Fee: $15 per child

  • To help cover the cost of printing activities and visual aids as well as the purchase of needed art and science supplies.

Young Entrepreneurs: 12:15 – 1:05 PM

This club will include hands on activities in personal finance and economics to help children learn about how money works. It is a wonderful opportunity to help prepare children for the 1st Young Entrepreneurs Fair at MHS in the Spring of 2020.

  • Supply Fee: $10 per child

  • To help cover the cost of materials for the club.

Parents Make Clubs Possible!

It takes parents to make the clubs happen and we love the community created by having involved parents! So be sure to sign up for the club or clubs you would love to participate in. After signing up for the club/clubs, you’ll be contacted by the Club Support person at MHS to determine your availability and receive the dates you will lead along with further assistance for planning your club activities. Thank you in advance for helping make clubs a fantastic part of the MHS experience!
